Concerts: Chillida & Chaconne: The Space Of Sound

On the 100th anniversary of Eduardo Chillida’s birth, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is joining the celebrations with a concert of the Bilbao Choral Society. Johann Sebastian Bach, alongside contemporary composers, will enter into a conversation with those of Chillida’s works on display on the Museum terrace – a unique setting for their music.

Bach’s music is ever-present in the work of Eduardo Chillida. This concert, featuring accordion player Iñaki Alberdi and the Bilbao Choral Society under the baton of Enrique Azurza, connects the work of the man from Donostia-San Sebastián to the music of the German genius, including pieces like his Chaconne, adapted for accordion and choir by Javier Quislant, along with works by contemporary composers like Sofía Gubaidulina and Knut Nystedt.
