Selections from the Collection of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao III

11.20.2012 - 11.03.2013

This is the third in a series of exhibitions scheduled to take place between 2009 and 2012 featuring the works in the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Collection, which currently boasts a total of 113 pieces by 69 artists. This collection is both ambitiously international and emphatically local, with works by major names in the history of 20th-century art as well as young rising stars. It encompasses a wide variety of artistic media and languages, and features pieces that were produced or created specifically for the singular spaces of Frank Gehry's building. On this occasion the show explores the artistic debate of the 1980s and 90s, led by a generation of European and American artists who began their careers in the late 1970s.
