Recommendations before you visit

General Information

  • Consult the temporary exhibitions and displays from the Permanent Collection that will be on view the day of your visit. Some galleries may be closed while exhibitions are being changed. If you have any questions, please consult the museum staff by calling (+34) 94 435 90 80, Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00

Recommendations during your visit

  • The central Atrium is the heart and soul of the Museum and serves as a point of reference and departure for visitors. The three floors of galleries arranged around this central area are interconnected by a system of curved walkways , glass lifts, and stairs.
  • From the Foyer we suggest you enter Zero Espazioa. There you'll find all the information you need to make your visit to the Museum an unforgettable experience.

  • The The exhibition space comprises a total of 20 galleries.
  • The Atrium and walkways link the different galleries, making it easy to find your way around the Museum and providing different perspectives on the various exhibition spaces. As you walk farther into the Museum, you'll discover that, in contrast to the complex shapes and forms of the exterior, the interior is a clear and orderly space that is quite easy to negotiate.
  • Nonexhibition areas include a 300-seat Auditorium, a restaurant, two cafés, and a gift-bookshop.
  • With the price of admission, you will be given an audio guide detailing the architecture of the building and the exhibitions on display, and a copy of the magazine. These enhancements will make your visit more enjoyable. Begin learning about the museum’s architecture by pressing 1 on the audio guide. After the architectural segment, the audio guide will lead you on a self-guided tour through the different galleries.
  • Use the maps provided in the magazine Guggenheim Bilbao to situate yourself and find the various exhibitions.

Other recommendations

  • If you would like to arrange a private tour, booking must be made at least two weeks in advance by phoning (+34) 94 435 90 90, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 14:00. Advance booking by phone is also required for groups of over 20 people. Please call (+34) 94 435 90 23, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 14:00.
  • During the summer, it is suggested that layered clothing be worn as the temperature inside the Museum is quite cool. Be advised that the busiest time at the Museum is from 11:00 to 13:00, so visitors should expect queues.
