Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao stands on the Paseo de Abandoibarra and is framed by two of its great sculptures: Maman, a spider sculpture created by Louise Bourgeois, and Puppy, a cute 12-meter-high floral dog by Jeff Koons.

A symbol of the revitalization of the city, the Museum, which opened in 1997, was designed by American architect Frank O. Gehry and combines presentations from the Permanent Collection and temporary exhibitions dedicated to the most prominent artists in the world, thus providing a comprehensive perspective on the art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
To complement the wealth of the art program, the Museum is also home to a range of activities related to other disciplines from the world of art: music, dance, fashion, gastronomy, architecture and the dramatic arts.
