Born on July 25.
1974
Enrolls in the faculty of fine arts at the Universitat de Barcelona, graduating six years later.
1980
Solano's first solo exhibition takes place at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona.
1981
Begins to teach in the faculty of fine arts at the Universitat de Barcelona.
1983
Exhibits at Galería Ciento in Barcelona.
1985
Receives the Special Prize from the Utsukushi-ga-Hara Open-Air Museum in Japan.
1986
Exhibitions of Solano's work are held at Galería Fernando Vijande in Madrid and Galería Charpa in Valencia, Spain. The Serpentine Gallery in London presents a joint exhibition with Miquel Navarro and José María Sicilia. Selected to participate in a show of works by ten young artists entitled Correspondance Europe at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
1987
Exhibits at Galería Montenegro in Madrid and Galería Maeght in Barcelona. Has her first solo exhibitions abroad, at CAPC, Musée d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux; Galerie des Arènes and Chapelle des Jésuites in Nîmes, France; Galerie Maeght-Montrouge in Paris; and Galleria Giorgio Persano in Turin. Participates in Documenta 8 in Kassel, Germany. Participates in the Bienal de São Paulo.
1988
Receives the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas from the Spanish Ministry of Culture. Exhibitions of her work are mounted at the Bonnefantenmuseum in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and Anthony Reynolds Gallery in London. With Jorge Oteiza, represents Spain at the XLIIIBiennale di Venezia. Takes part in the Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.
1989
Solano's work is exhibited at the Städtisches Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach, Germany, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Exhibits at Donald Young Gallery in Chicago. Solano's work is shown alongside Sol LeWitt's at Marta Cervera Gallery in New York.
1990
Holds exhibitions at the Mala Galerija in Ljubljana, Slovenia; Galería Luís Revenga in Madrid; Galería Línea in Madrid; and La Fattoria di Celle in Santomato, Italy.
1991
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Domaine de Kerguéhennec in Bignan, France, and Galerie Lelong in Paris mount exhibitions of Solano's work. Her work is featured in the exhibition La mémoire de la liberté at the Musée national d'art moderne-Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
1992
A retrospective of Solano's work from the previous fourteen years is presented at the Palacio de Velázquez, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid; it later travels to Grenoble, London, and Malmö, Sweden. Her sculpture Dime, dime querido is installed at the Área Olímpica in Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympic Games. Presents the exhibition Hidroteràpia at Galeria Joan Prats and Joan Prats Artgràfic in Barcelona. Takes part in Documenta 9 in Kassel, Germany.
1993
Holds two exhibitions in London, one at the Whitechapel Art Gallery and the other at Anthony Reynolds Gallery. Also exhibits at Le Magasin–Centre National d'Art Contemporain de Grenoble and the Malmö Konsthall in Malmö, Sweden.
1994
Exhibits at Galleria Giorgio Persano in Turin, Galeria Senda in Barcelona, and, in a show titled En busca de un paisaje, at Galería Oliva Arauna in Madrid.
1995
Exhibits at Galería Luís Adelantado in Valencia, Spain, and Galeria Maior in Pollença, Mallorca.
1996
Major exhibitions of Solano's work are organized at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein in Berlin and the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien in Vienna. Exhibits at Galeria Quadrado Azul in Porto, Galería Juana de Aizpuru in Seville, and McKee Gallery in New York. Receives the Premio CEOE for the arts from the Fundación CEOE in Madrid.
1997
Exhibits at the Fundaçao de Serralves in Porto.
1998
Exhibits the work Korsade Vägar / Caminos Cruzados in the show titled Places in Gothenburg held in this Swedish city.
1999
The Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona presents Muecas, a selection of Solano's works from the previous five years. Her work is included in the exhibition Spanish and Basque Contemporary Art at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
2000
Solano's graphic work is displayed at Galería La Caja Negra in Madrid. Exhibitions of her work are also mounted at Galleria Giorgio Persano in Turin, Galeria Senda–Espai 292 in Barcelona, and Galería SCQ in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
2001
Exhibitions of Solano's work are mounted at The Berardo Collection–Sintra Museu de Arte Moderna in Sintra, Portugal, and the Palacio de los Condes de Gabia and Palacio Daral- Horra in Granada.
2002
Exhibitions of Solano's work are displayed at Galería Porta 33 in Madeira and Galeria Maior in Pollença, Mallorca.
2003
Works by Solano are displayed in the abbey of Santo Domingo de Silos in Burgos, Spain, as part of an exhibition organized by the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. Solano's work is included in Transparencies at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
2004
The Museo Extremeño e Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo in Badajoz, Spain, presents an exhibition of Solano's work.
2005
Galeria Maior in Palma de Mallorca mounts an exhibition of Solano's work.
2006
Exhibitions of Solano's work are presented at McKee Gallery in New York and Galleria Giorgio Persano in Turin.
2007
Galería SCQ in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, presents an exhibition of Solano's work. Her work is included in the exhibition Espacios por habitar: Fondos de la colección permanente at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.
2008
Exhibits models of her works for public spaces at Fundación ICO in Madrid. Solano's work is featured in the exhibitions España 1957–2007: L'arte spagnola da Picasso, Miró, Dalí e Tàpies ai nostri giorni at the Palazzo Sant'Elia in Palermo, Italy, and Josep Suñol Collection: Second Part, 1970–2001 at Fundació Suñol in Barcelona.
2009
Exhibits Esto no es un escaparate (2009) in Objeto– Sin objeto , presented in the store windows of El Corte Inglés department store on Calle Preciados in Madrid.
2010
The first exhibitions dedicated to the artist are presented at Galería Estiarte, Madrid, Galería Maior, Palma de Mallorca, and Galerie Bernard Bouche, Paris. Her work is featured in group exhibitions at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, Shanghai, China, Sala de Reflexió on the university campus of Ciutadella de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, and Galería Maior, Palma de Mallorca.
2011
Creates Sin destinatario, an installation piece for Art on Lake at the Városliget City Park, Budapest. The Madrid gallery Distrito 4 opens the exhibition Artefactos . Her work is included in the group exhibition 27 obres, 18 autors at the Col•lecció Josep Suñol, Fundació Suñol, Barcelona, and at Art on Lake, Budapest.
