1981
Enrolls in the faculty of fine arts at the Universidad del País Vasco in Leioa, specializing in sculpture; he will graduate in 1986.
1982
Receives an art grant from the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
1983
Wins third prize for sculpture at Gure Artea 1983, sponsored by the Basque government.
Exhibits at the Aula de Cultura de la Caja de Ahorros Municipal in Bilbao.
1984
Wins first prize for sculpture at the VI Bienal de Artes Plásticas de Vitoria in Vitoria, Spain.
1985
Receives a grant for artistic creation from the province of Guipúzcoa.
Wins third prize for sculpture at Gure Artea 1985.
Exhibits at Galería Windsor Kulturgintza in Bilbao.
1986
Irazu's first solo exhibition outside the Basque Country is held at Galería Fúcares in Almagro, Spain.
His work is included in Muestra de arte joven at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
1987
Wins first prize for sculpture at Bizkaiko Artea in Bilbao.
Irazu's work is included in Dinamiques et interrogations at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
1988
Solo exhibitions of Irazu's work are held at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona and Galería Soledad Lorenzo in Madrid.
Participates in the Fourth International Drawing Triennial at the Kunsthalle Nürnberg in Nuremberg.
1989
Exhibits at Galeria Joan Prats in Barcelona.
Has a joint exhibition with Txomin Badiola at the Riverside Studios in London.
1990
Selected to participate in the Aperto section of the XLIV Biennale di Venezia.
Moves to New York after receiving a grant from the Comité Conjunto Hispano-Americano. He stays in New York for eight years.
Irazu's work is featured in the show Spanische Eisenskulptur at museums in Mannheim, Bochum, and Berlin.
1991
John Weber Gallery mounts Irazu's first solo exhibition in New York.
1992
The Museo de Artes Visuales Alejandro Otero in Caracas, Venezuela, holds an exhibition of Irazu's work. Exhibits at Galería Soledad Lorenzo in Madrid. Participates in the exhibition Pasajes in the Spanish Pavilion of the 1992 World's Fair in Seville.
1993
John Weber Gallery in New York mounts an exhibition of Irazu's work.
Exhibits at Galería Charpa in Valencia, Spain.
1994
Irazu's work is exhibited at the Palacete del Embarcadero in Santander, Spain; Galeria Joan Prats in Barcelona; C. Grimaldis Gallery in Baltimore; and, under the title Real World, at Galería Soledad Lorenzo in Madrid.

Exhibits at Galería Fernando Latorre in Saragossa, Spain, and Galería Manuel Ojeda in Las Palmas, Spain. Teaches a sculpture workshop at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

(1x1) x1 opens at Galería Moisés Pérez de Albéniz, Pamplona. The exhibition PELLO IRAZU. Isolation Room at the Gallery Kit in St Louis, Missouri, features his work on paper.
