The Frankfurter Kunstverein in Frankfurt presents the exhibition David.
An installation by Gillick is unveiled at BIC Technologiezentrum in Leipzig, Germany.
2000
Exhibitions of Gillick’s work take place at the Westfälischer Kunstverein in Münster; Arnolfini in Bristol; Hayward Gallery in London; Casey Kaplan Gallery in New York; and Air de Paris in Paris.
His work is included in the exhibition What If/Tänk Om at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm.
2001
Tate Britain presents the outdoor installation Annlee You Proposes.
Gillick’s work is shown at the Salzburger Kunstverein in Salzburg and at Hauser & Wirth & Presenhuber in Zurich.
Participates in the Yokohama Triennale 2001 in Yokohama, Japan, and the 2nd Berlin Biennale at Kunst-Werke Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin.

The Whitechapel Art Gallery in London presents Gillick's The Wood Way.
Is nominated for the Turner Prize. Creates the installation Coats of Asbestos Spangled with Mica for the accompanying exhibition at Tate Britain in London.
Shows work at Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle in Munich and Galerie Meyer Kainer in Vienna.
Creates public projects for DekaBank in Frankfurt; Olnick Corporation in TK, New Jersey; Mercat in Alicante, Spain; and in Alcobendas, Madrid.
2003
The Museum of Modern Art in New York presents the exhibition Projects 79: Liam Gillick, Literally.
The Power Plant in Toronto presents Liam Gillick: Communes, Bars and Greeenrooms.
Exhibits at Galerie Max Hetzler and Schipper & Krome, both in Berlin.
Creates the installation I can’t answer that question it’s a question of conscience in Alcobendas, Madrid.
Installations by Gillick are inaugurated in the London Underground as part of the Frieze Art Fair; at Regent’s Place in London; and at the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport in Florida.

Gillick’s How are you going to behave? A kitchen cat speaks is featured in the German Pavilion at the LIII Biennale di Venezia.

Gillick’s La aparente unión del cielo y la tierra (The Apparent Junction of Earth and Sky) is installed on billboards and bus shelters around Miami as part of the Billboard Project, presented by Locust Projects in Miami.
